Collin County Clerk's Office Wins National Award
(McKINNEY, Texas) – The Collin County Clerk's Office has been awarded a National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Award for quality, efficient and responsive county government management and administration. The program being recognized is the Electronic Public Information Program. Cited for its effectiveness and innovation in county government, this program is the direct result of Collin County Clerk Stacey Kemp's presentation and testimony to the Texas State Legislature of a bill that soon became law that now allows County Clerks across Texas the option to post legal and public notices electronically. Prior to this change, all such notices were required to be in paper form, physically posted at county courthouses. The option of electronic posting, whether at kiosks or on county web sites, not only saves countless reams of paper and hours of staff time, but also provides significantly greater public access to these notices.
County Clerk Kemp states, "I am extremely privileged to accept such a prestigious award on behalf of the efforts of my staff and other elected and appointed officials to modernize and open up access to important public documents. I especially would like to thank Texas State Representative Ken Paxton for helping champion this very important cause to help cut government costs, protect the environment and promote public accessibility and convenience."
This is the first time that the Collin County Clerk's Office has won a national award. This is also the 41st year for NACo's Achievement Awards. Award winners will be recognized at NACo's annual conference in Washoe County, Nevada in July.
