HEALTH ADVISORY: Medical Reserve Corps Volunteers Serving Feb. 6 at Free H1N1 Vaccination Clinic

(McKINNEY, Texas) – Collin County Health Care Services and Collin County Homeland Security will offer free H1N1 vaccinations at a clinic Saturday, February 6. Walk-ins will be welcome from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Farmersville High School, 499 Highway 78N, Farmersville, TX, 75442. No appointments are necessary. The H1N1 clinic is open to everyone and is the second of three planned community clinics.

Staffed primarily by volunteer members of Collin County’s Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), the H1N1 vaccination clinic will provide H1N1 vaccine free of charge to the general public. The clinic will assist Collin County in assessing the capabilities of the Medical Reserve Corps to respond to a public health emergency. This will be the second time MRC volunteers will be deployed to provide mass vaccination to the general public.

Flu experts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warn to prepare for another wave of H1N1 flu during coming months. The public is urged to get vaccinated at the free H1N1 clinic Saturday, February 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Farmersville High School, by their primary physician, or at one of 68 locations partnering with Collin County Health Care Services to provide H1N1 vaccine.
