Collin County Health Care Services offering flu vaccine clinic in Plano
(McKinney, TX) -- Collin County Health Care Services will be hosting a flu vaccine clinic at the Douglass Community Center in Plano on January 19, 2006. Free doses of FluMist® will be available at this clinic. FluMist® is a nasal spray vaccine that can be given to healthy persons between the ages of 5 and 49. Flu shots will also be available at a reduced cost of $5 per dose.
Currently, the State of Texas is reporting widespread influenza activity. “Physicians are reporting more cases of respiratory illness, but flu appears to be on schedule to peak in February” says Collin County nurse epidemiologist Janet Glowicz. “There is still time to get a flu shot.”
Douglass Community Center is located at 1111 Avenue H in Plano. Collin County Health Care Services personnel will provide flu vaccinations at this location from 3 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, January 19th. Vaccinations are open to all age groups. A legal guardian must be present for a child to be vaccinated. Payment can be made with cash or check.
Flu vaccinations are also available at the Collin County health department Monday through Friday from 8 am to 11 am and 1 pm to 4 pm. The health department is located at 825 N. McDonald Street in McKinney.
