Collin County to celebrate Constitution Week with Sons of American Revolution presentation

(McKinney, TX) – As part of Constitution Week, the Plano chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) will present Collin County with the United States Constitution on Tuesday, September 14th.

“This monumental document defined our liberties, our individual freedom, and the establishment of our Republic as a self governing nation dedicated to rule by law,” says Peter Rowley, President of the Plano SAR Chapter.

The Constitution will be displayed in the Collin County courthouse lobby, along with the Bill of Rights, which was presented to the county two years ago for Memorial Day.

This year, the United States is celebrating the 216th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution. The document was ratified on September 17th, 1787. Constitution Week is September 12th through 18th.

“Constitution Week provides an opportunity for all Americans to recall the achievements of our founding patriots and the nature of limited government as well as the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of citizenship,” says Rowley.

A dedication ceremony will be held in the courthouse lobby beginning shortly after 10 a.m. during the Collin County Commissioners Court session.
