The 2011 scholarship winners were announced at the annual Teen Court reception. Congratulations to:
LAUREN MICHLITSCH - $1,200 SCHOLARSHIP
Lauren is a Senior at Plano West Senior High School. She is the daughter of Terry and Lori Michlitsch. She plans to attend Ohio State University and major in Political Science and minor in Criminal Justice & Accounting.
She has been involved with Teen Court for 3 years and has served over 300 hours of community service. She plays the roles of attorney, bailiff and judge for Teen Court. Lauren competed at the North Texas Teen Court Competition at Wesleyan Law School in April representing Collin County.
This year she is the recipient of the Bronze Presidential Service Award. She is an active member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Plano West Varsity Swimming Team, Plano West Varsity Water Polo Team and Team Captain. Along with being an active member of Collin County Teen Court, she also volunteers for The Alzheimer’s Association and the Dallas Water Polo League.
HOPE OSBORN - $1,200 SCHOLARSHIP
Hope is homeschooled and also receives dual credit by attending Collin County Community College. She is the daughter of Kyle and Joanne Osborn. She plans to attend The University of Texas and major in Government
She has been involved with Teen Court for 5 years and has served over 300 hours of community service. She plays the roles of juror and attorney for Teen Court. Hope competed in the North Texas Teen Court Competition at Wesleyan Law School in April as an attorney. Her team placed 2nd and represented Collin County with a win!
This year she is the recipient of the Gold Presidential Service Award. She is an active member of Girl Scouts and is a Secretariat and a delegate for the Global Elementary Model United Nations. She also chaired the United Nations Environment Program
MAYA FLIPPEN - $1,200 SCHOLARSHIP
Maya is a Senior at McKinney High School. She is the daughter of Brooks and Celeste Flippen. She plans to attend Duke University with a major in Political Science and a minor in Women’s Studies.
She has been involved in Teen Court for 5 years and has served over 200 hours in community service, along with receiving the Presidential Honor. She has played the roles of attorney, clerk and juror for Teen Court. Maya competed in the North Texas Teen Court Competition at Wesleyan Law School in April as role of a defendant and witness. Her team placed 2nd and represented Collin County with a win!
Maya also participates in Debate, Mock Trial, International and Student Congress and Philosophy Club at school. As well as volunteering for Teen Court, she also volunteers for the Habitat for Humanity, Samaritan Inn and Green Cord.
MATTHEW FEY - $400 SCHOLARSHIP
Matthew is a Senior at McKinney Boyd High School. He is the son of Christopher and Tamara Fey. He plans to attend the University of Arkansas and major in International Relations with a minor in Spanish.
Matthew has been involved with Teen Court for 1 year and has served 140 hours of community service. He is the recipient of the Bronze Presidential Service Award. Matthew participated at the North Texas Teen Court Competition in April as a juror representing Collin County.
Matthew is an active member of Student Council, National Honor Society and Academic UIL Team. Along with Teen Court, he also volunteers for the Allen Public Library and North Texas Food Bank.
KATHERINE BLODGETT - $400 SCHOLARSHIP
Katherine is a Senior at McKinney Boyd High School. She is the daughter of Annlyn Blodgett. She plans to attend Ohio State University and major in Biology and minor in Political Science
Katherine has been involved with Teen Court for 1 year serving 145 hours of community service. She is the recipient of the Bronze Presidential Service Award. Katherine participated at the North Texas Teen Court Competition at Wesleyan Law School in April.
Katherine is an active member of Student Council, Cheerleading, National FFA Organization and National Honor Society. Along with Teen Court, she also volunteers with Minshew Elementary tutoring children and Green Cord.
REBEKAH JOHNSON - $400 SCHOLARSHIP
Rebekah is a Senior at McKinney Christian Academy. She is the daughter of Doug and Carroll Johnson. She plans to attend George Washington University and to major in International Relations with a minor in Arabic and Russian.
Rebekah has been involved with Teen Court for 3 years. She plays the roles of juror and attorney. She is the recipient of the Bronze Presidential Service Award with over 200 hours of community service.
Rebekah is an active member of the Newspaper Staff, Art Team, Academic Team, Track and Field, National Honor Society and Extended School Supervision. Along with Teen Court, she also volunteers for the World Affairs Council of DFW
