We all owe a debt of gratitude to the veterans and active members of our military. And one
way you can demonstrate your support of our soldiers is through
Community Covenant, an initiative by the United States Army
that now includes all active and reserve branches of every
Service. This is a powerfully genuine and heartfelt way
to support our soldiers and their families where they live – in
the towns, cities and rural areas of Collin County.
Simply put, Community
Covenant is a formal affirmation of support by state, county
and municipal officials, along with local residents, for
those who serve and have served in the military. In recognizing
the sacrifices our soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, coastguardsmen
and their families make in serving our country, we are also
acknowledging our communities’ commitment to
keep them strong through initiatives to bolster and care
for both soldier and family during and after their service.
Through this initiative, hundreds of best practices, from the
national to the state and down to the local level, have been developed
across the nation to support the military’s mission and
the needs of its members and their families.
We invite you
to join us to sign the Collin County Community Covenant.
Copies are currently at the County Commissioners Court reception
desk (4th floor of the Jack Hatchell County Administration Building,
2300 Bloomdale Road in McKinney), and will soon be available
at other county and city offices. Community Covenant is
not a political movement, but purely a declaration of patriotism,
gratitude, and support for our military service members
and their sacrifice for us. Our goal is to get as many signatures as there are county residents wanting to show your support.
