A very visual reminder of those victimized by area crime
The Collin County Crime Victim’s Council and the Collin County District Attorney’s Office will be sponsoring the “Empty Shoe Project 2012” at the Collin County Courthouse for National Crime Victim’s Rights Week, April 22-28, where empty shoes are laid out on the courthouse steps as a poignant reminder crime victims who have walked through our justice system in the past year.
The shoes are old, used and were worn by both adults and children. They will line the courthouse steps throughout the week, and if you would like to donate your old shoes and have them be part of this very visual and memorable display, please contact the DA’s Victim’s Assistance Division on the lower level of the new addition of the Collin County Courthouse on Bloomdale Road, or Allen Police Department Crime Victim Advocate Niccole Frazier (nfrazier@cityofallen.org). We would appreciate it if you placed your shoes in a plastic bag of some type, before bringing them by the VA Division.
Your shoes can be in any condition and are needed to make an impact in numbers. After the display is taken down, the shoes will be taken by a local church group to be distributed on their next mission trip.
