Graduation 2008 launches 5th annual celebration at Myers Park
(McKINNEY, Texas) -- For the fifth year in a row, hundreds
of graduating high school seniors from McKinney will get their diplomas
and head off to Myers Park & Event Center to party the entire night
away. This year, McKinney Boyd's first class of graduating seniors joins
partiers from McKinney, McKinney North and Serenity High schools.
The celebration runs all night Friday and into Saturday morning with
games, music, food and more than $100,000 in gifts and prizes, and fills
up two show barns at Myers Park as well as The Landing.
Project Graduation organizers say the celebrations, which are held in
cities and towns across the nation, are about keeping our kids and community
safe. "PG" events are watched over volunteer parents, and has
proven to be the most effective means of preventing drug and alcohol related
tragedies on one of the biggest nights in a teenager's life.
The McKinney event has received support from the Collin County Sheriff's
Office, the McKinney Police Department, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
