Some county offices to close April
15-17
Many Collin county offices will move from their current offices
near downtown McKinney to the new Jack
Hatchell Collin County Administration Building in mid-April.
This will call for a few days where you may not be able to
do business in person at certain offices during this time.
For most folks, this short closing could affect those looking
to go to the County Clerk (for land deeds, marriage licenses,
vital records, business filings), and getting license plates
for your cars and trucks at the Tax Assessor & Collector.
Here’s a list of departments that are moving, when
they will close and when they re-open for business at 2300
Bloomdale Road -- at the corner of Community Drive and Bloomdale
Road.
- County
Clerk: Closing at noon on April 15, and
re-opening on Monday morning, April 20. To obtain a
Certified Copy of a Birth Certificate or Death Certificate
or to obtain a Marriage License during this time you
may visit our Plano
office located at 900 E. Park, Suite 140C.
- Tax
Assessor & Collector: Closing
April 16 and 17, and re-opening Monday April 20. This
office will be shutting down its operations at the county
building on University Drive. The Tax Assessor’s Plano and Frisco offices
are not moving and will be open on those days.
- Justice
of Peace, Precinct 1 (McKinney): Closing
April 13 and not re-opening until Monday, May 4. Not
only is the office packing up and moving its operations
to a new building, but the staff will be training and
setting up a new computerized court management system
at the same time. All cases in Justice Court with deadlines
falling between the dates mentioned above will automatically
be extended until May 4.
- Constable,
Precinct 1 (McKinney): Closing at noon
on April 16, and re-opening on Monday, April 20.
- Commissioners
Court, Administrative
Services, Budget & Finance, Human
Resources, Teen
Court & County
Auditor: Will be closed April 15 through
17, re-opening on Monday, April 20.
Other departments, such as our Information Technology, Purchasing,
Telecommunications, Web Development and GIS/Rural Addressing
sections, have already moved. The county’s Engineering,
Development Services, Health Care Services, Fire Marshal,
WIC offices, Records, Parks & Open Space, and the Texas
Cooperative Extension will remain at their current offices 825
N. McDonald St.
Also, the county will hold an open
house on April 27, from
5-6:30 p.m., followed by the first Commissioners court meeting
in the four-story building.
This website has an updated list of addresses
and maps to all county office locations, as does our county
directory.
