Save the Date for Rebate: Texas Trade Up Appliance Rebate Program
Texans will be able to tap into more than $23 million in federal stimulus funds for a mail-in rebate program for those who buy certain energy efficient household appliances from April 16 through 25.
This April, if you’re looking to replace old appliances, The U.S. Department of Energy has approved rebates for consumers who buy eligible ENERGY STAR appliances. The Texas program, administered by the Comptroller’s State Energy and Conservation Office (SECO), will also offer an additional incentive to properly recycle their old appliances.
So you know, the rebates can range from $45 for a window unit air conditioner up to $1,600 for certain air source heat pumps, and the state program will add an additional $75 for appliances that are recycled properly. Plus, the rebates can be stacked with other rebates and incentives, such as manufacturer rebates and federal tax credits – making this incentive worth exploring in detail.
Be sure to check out all the details posted on the SECO website.
In a nutshell:
- Consumers will have an opportunity to reserve an appliance rebate by calling a toll-free number or registering online starting on April 5, 2010. When all of the guaranteed rebates are reserved, consumers may continue to sign up for a waiting list to receive rebates on a first-come-first-served basis.
- Consumers must give their name, address and appliance type when making a reservation.
- Consumers must be on the guaranteed rebate reservation list or the waiting list to be able to print or receive the forms they will mail in to claim rebates.
- Shoppers will be limited to two appliance rebates and two recycling rebates per household.
- Mail-in rebates will apply to eligible appliances purchased only between April 16 and April 25, 2010, and have 60 days from reservation date to install the appliance(s) and submit their paperwork for the rebate.
