More than 200 law enforcement agencies will
wrap up the annual Great Texas Warrant Round-Up on Saturday in a
statewide sweep to collect on hot checks warrants and unpaid
misdemeanor fines - or arrest those who haven't paid up.
In Collin County, more than a dozen agencies and
local courts will send officers out Saturday to round up those who
have yet to pay. Final notice letters were mailed out in the last
month to about 1,000 people from the Justice of the Peace courts
located in Plano alone.
But you can clear a warrant without being arrested by
contacting a Collin County Constable
before Saturday's round-up.
"Deputies can provide instructions to offenders and
set up a date to appear in court without the embarrassment of being
arrested and bonding out of jail", according to Chief Deputy Constable
Lonnie Simmons in Plano. "As a matter of fact, we actually encourage
people to call and make the arrangements instead of us having to arrest
them at their homes or jobs."
Individuals with outstanding warrants can look up their
cases at the online hot
check payment or online ticket
payment sections. Also, you can view the entire active
warrant list for the county.
