Collin
County District Attorney’s Citizens Prosecutor Academy, Class VIII
September 18, 2008 to November 20, 2008
It’s that time again. The Citizens Prosecutor Academy
will start up it’s Fall 2008 class, from September 18th through November
20th. The classes will be Thursday nights from 6:45 to 9:15. We are accepting
applications now, so send yours in ASAP. For more
information, visit www.collincountyda.com.
Deadline for Application is September 4th.
Once you are accepted to attend the Citizens
Prosecutor Academy, your class will meet on Thursday nights for
ten weeks. Experts from various divisions within the DA’s Office
and other law enforcement agencies will conduct the classes and
presentations. You will learn how criminal cases are handled from
intake/grand jury through trial to appeal. You will hear from the
Medical Examiner, see a presentation from a local narcotics unit,
learn how an intoxilyzer (alcohol breath test instrument) works,
visit the Child Advocacy Center, and gain a behind-the-scenes
understanding of real-world prosecution and law enforcement,
including how the District Attorney decides when to seek the
death penalty.
Interested? Class size is limited, and the selection process is intensive, so you are encouraged to apply as soon as you can.
