Collin County Mobility Projects

As one of the fastest growing counties in the state and nation, Collin County is making infrastructural enhancements to accommodate the increasing population and road traffic. According to the North Central Texas Council of Governments, the population of Collin County increased at a rate of 5.64% during 2003, which brings the current population of the County to be over 615,000 residents. As the County continues to grow, an increasing number of local residents will travel to employment sites within Collin County and thus place a great burden on the existing transportation system. Consequently, a cooperative and comprehensive solution to alleviate the existing and projected mobility problems is required.

Over the last few years, several major projects have been initiated by various entities, including the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) and the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). Many projects are currently underway while others are still in the planning stages. The following is a list of projects which are considered to be among the most important:

Mobility Plan Final Draft
North Dallas Tollway Extension
Collin County Thoroughfare Plan
Collin County Outer Loop Alignment Study
FM 545 Alignment Study
10 Year Asphalt Program
Northeast Texas Rural Rail District
